Festival Fashion: Latitude

This was my 5th year at Latitude and although I have been to a few different festivals Latitude is my favourite. It’s a great mix of not only music but culture. Over the years I have watched bands like Wolf Alice and The 1975 progress from playing on the smaller Lake stage up to the BBC tent and main stage which is pretty special.

This year was particularly good fun as my sister came along! We drank Rhubarb Gin, stuffed ourselves with nachos, covered our faces glitter and danced like idiots.

Festival fashion is what summer is all about and this year the high street has really embraced this selling bum bags, bucket hats, glitter and sequin pieces. A far cry from festival fashion of previous years, when it has all been about boho with girlie floral dresses and kimonos. (or just basically copying Sienna Miller/ Kate Moss)

With new inspirations for this years festival I pretty much had my outfits picked out a week before I packed! Not much groundbreaking fashion but just a laid back, cooler take on festival fashion, without a floral headband insight.

Denim Shorts  New Girl Order logo T-shirt

Friday, day one I went straight in for denim shorts all weekend it was lovely and hot so I just went for it. Friday evening called for my leopard print skirt and favourite leather jacket – serious festival vibes with the tassels.

Surprise Guest Liam Gallagher @Latitude

Saturday night for The Killers I went for my polka dot slip dress and silver bumbag. This dress was such a good buy and was perfect for a saturday night with lots of glitter.

Sunday was a very chilled day so I went for a pretty cool and casual look. My trusty denim shorts again this time with a paisley print shirt over the top. I also wore a headband to give my hair some much-needed lift.

5 Summer Outfit Inspirations

Last week and to be fair rolling into this week the weather has been bloody Amazing! I was also off for week from work so the sunshine was a very welcome visitor.

Everything is better in the sunshine music, beers, food ( Ice cream and eating Al fresco) However fashion and outfit inspiration is much harder I find in the summer. Whether it is the fear of sweat patches or chub rub, we all know the burn. So I thought I would pull together what I have been wearing to hopefully share some inspiration.

Skirt, Shoes and Bag – Topshop

‘Sunday’ logo Top and Sunglasses – Primark

I love this outfit pink, red and yellow complement each other perfectly. This skirt has definite Clueless vibes, it fits really well surprisingly for a Topshop skirt. The ring pull zip at the front pulls you in and is made for tucking a slogan T-shirt into. I wore this to go for brunch.

Trainers – Topshop

Dress – New Look

Trainers and a dress have to be this summers go to outfit. Whether it’s the classic Vans shape, flat forms or chunky Dad trainers they work great together for a simple, easy to wear outfit. I have seen loads of this t-shirt shape and midi length dress on the High st and I would 100% recommend it. If you are fairly short like me a good trick with midi dresses or skirts is to keep the bottom 3-4 buttons undone to elongate the way your legs look.

Playsuit – Topshop

White Shirt – New Look

I bought this denim playsuit for Latitude Festival but have worn it a couple of times already. The fit is flattering and not too short like most things on the High st, which is something I love. Although it is denim I found it relatively cool to wear, you can also layer with a t-shirt for evenings or through a shirt over it like I did

Skirt – Next

‘I believe in Coffee’ T-shirt – Zara

This is probably my favourite outfit of the week. Polka dots are everything right now and I’m loving this midi length. This skirt is so easy to wear with a plain or slogan t-shirt for the day, I wore this when just popping in town for lunch. T-shirts are what I have been wearing loads of RN, a white cami top however would look just as good! These flat form sandles from Topshop have been hands down the best buy so far. These beauties are so comfy, I have worn them pretty much everyday and found they go with pretty much everything in my wardrobe.

‘New Girl Order’ Top and Skirt– Topshop

Yes it’s another skirt but it is LEOPARD print. This is quite short for me and I did feel a little self-conscious but pushed myself to wear it because I love it so much. When wearing a bold print like this you need All the confidence. I teamed this skirt with a more simple top with black lettering to tie in the skirt and bag. This top is from a brand sold at Topshop ‘New Girl Order’ they have some super cool prints, I bought this one as I love the psychedelic style typography. I wore this to go for a nice cold Pimms along the Norfolk coast.

New wardrobe favourites

I’m dusting off my camera and starting up my blog again.

I’ve been lacking inspiration and confidence when it comes to clothing lately. Partly from the high streets sudden obsession with cropped clothing especially tops and shorts which is fine if your one of the Cheeky Girls but for the rest of us not so good. It’s becoming a challenge just to find clothes that fit properly –a basic of clothes shopping surly?

I’ve also had some body confidence issues and was not feeling the “smile for the camera” kinda vibes. I’m not sure if it was the recent heat wave setting off a panic , the pressure of that perfect “summer bod”or having to walk past Calvin Klein and their massive cardboard cut out of Kendal Jenner every day on the way to work.

However after making some healthier lifestyle choices (ditching my dailey breakfast muffin) and having a huge wardrobe clear out I’m feeling much more positive.so I thought I would share some of the new favourite items in my wardrobe right now…

Polka Dot Blazer

This item without a shadow of a doubt is one of my current favourite items in my wardrobe. I have worn this on a fair few nights out and occassions. Polka dot print and blazers are both strong trends at the moment, so to combine the two is just perfection. It’s really light weight and comfortable unlike some blazers which can be quite bulky and stiff. This blazer goes with so much and looks amazing for a night out styled with black skinny jeans and a logo tee.

Pink Check

As soon as I saw these instant thoughts of the 90’s and Clueless came to mind. There have been a lot of the check pleated mini skirts on the high street but I thought these trousers are a great way to do the trend but without worrying about getting your legs out. These lovely’s are high-waisted and are perfect for tucking a t-shirt into which is a look I am obsessed with at the moment.

Bum Bag

Although I love going to festivals bum bags have never really been my thing. There is just something about them that just never appeals to me until recently. The classic bum bag has had a much needed update and now looks much more luxurious and quirky. I love the new box shape and how the strap is more like a belt buckle. I’ve seen them in pretty much every colour and texture including velvet. It was a hard choice between silver and bright red but I decided silver would be more wearable and liked the contrast between the gold metal. They are the ultimate accessory for the sports luxe look, plus you get to be hands free.

New Season Wish List

Hello February you are well and truly here!!

The last month has been a bit of a blur xmas and new year feel like an eternity away and the dreary days of January have seemed as equally endless. Alas it is now February and time to get out of my fashion coma. Recently I have felt my style has been on the back-burner relying on comfy, easy outfits and old favs like the classic jeans and T-shirt combo. so I thought I would get some inspiration and put together some things I am luting over to revitalise my wardrobe.

Leather Jacket

I have a few in various colours and styles  but really want to invest in  a more luxury one from a brand  such as Acne Studios or All Saints. I want that perfect leather jacket I can pull out and pop on over any outfit.

Over sized jacket –All Saints

Levi Jean

As a fairly recent convert to a serious jean wearer I feel the need for a serious pair of jeans. I want the perfect style and fit jeans and where better to look than Levis.

A Suit

Suits were everywhere last year and I’m anticipating they will be again. Inspired by male fashion icons like David Bowie and Mick Jagger, I really want to evoke that in my wardrobe with a super cool suit maybe floral? or striped?  that I can pull out for any occasion as more of a style statement and alternative to a dress.

Perfect Green Bag

Primary colour bags are all over the high st and I have been on the hunt for a green one, however the ones I have found so far are either too small or the wrong shade. I use my red bag all the time and love the pop of colour it adds to outfits.

Perfect shade of Green

The colour of the moment I want a piece of anything and everything in Lilac. It’s also the perfect way to introduce some pastel colour looking forward into spring!

Birthday: Gig, Shopping, London and Burgers

A couple of weekends ago I was in London getting ready to see one of my favourite bands Wolf Alice.

I stayed at The Hoxton Hotel in Shoreditch and have to say price considered it’s a  great hotel. It has all the perks and feels of an expensive 5 star hotel without the price tag. The hotel also has its own grill and bar which were busy and lively. This was a perfect place to start the evening. (The burger was  top-notch)

I wore the outfit I had picked out on my personal shopping day at Topshop and I must say  I absolutely loved it. The blazer is just everything and was just the ticket to add something special and unique to the outfit. The gig itself was awesome I’ve seen Wolf Alice before in much smaller venues so it was exciting to see them on such a big stage. Delete The Kisses was sooooo good and was performed with a disco ball lighting up the venue. It gave a great atmosphere that reminded me of being at an American Prom. Space and Time was also a highlight.

The next day we went shopping in Carnaby ST. surrounded by carnival style Christmas decorations it was buzzing. We popped to Stax Diner (Kingly Court) and had another burger (this time chicken) which was huge and came with fries covered in Cajun spice.

I love the shops on Carnaby ST and always like to pop into Monki and Dr Marten where I purchased a new pair with my birthday money. I have needed a new pair for months, so thought this was the perfect occasion to treat myself. I love the independent boutique shop on offer my boyfriend always pops into The Face (known before as Sherry’s) to get a silk printed shirt that you really can’t buy anywhere else.

Before leaving London  we headed to the mothership of Liberty’s the windows were beautiful to look at but their christmas department was amazing, so many original designs. It’s worth a visit especially this time of year.

Personal Shopping experience with Topshop

It’s my birthday next week and I am going to London to see one of my fav bands Wolf Alice, as well as the usual birthday drinks with friends so obviously I needed a couple of extra special outfits. So when Topshop Norwich invited me to try out their new personal shopping experience I jumped at the chance. I had always been curious about personal shopping services and I wasn’t disappointed. The service is free and there are 4 girls you can book in with, you are asked pre questions about your style goals, influences and sizes.

The personal shopping suit had a relaxed atmosphere and Michaela was easy to chat to. There was a rail of outfits already picked out to try on and mix n match with a beautifully laid out accessory table to complete the look. A plus point of this service is even as someone who is confident in styling outfits it’s pretty cool to see someone else’s interpretation of your style and to try things you may not have otherwise picked up.

I would recommend trying this service out especially over party season for outfit inpo as well as gift ideas! I came away with two perfect outfits that I am super excited to wear.

Best Buds Tee All @Topshop

I love the mix of textures with the Velvet Blazer and Star Studded Skirt detail, I am also a massive fan of the pink and red colour clash (Very on trend.) The dress is something I probably would never have tried on because of the low neckline, however styled with a black crop top underneath it looked perfect. The velvet fabric is lovely to wear and I am in love with the floral print and vintage feel of the colours.

A- line Skirt

I love wearing skirts even in winter so was on the look out for a cord one. I found this one in Topshop and it is a great update to my A/W wardrobe. I love the ring pull detail which gives the skirt a retro feel. The mini length is perfect for me and to team with Chelsea boots.

Faith, Hope and Pixie Dust

I was tagged in a pic of this shirt by a friend on Instagram and could not resist. What’s not to love about anything  Tinker Bell? I like the fact the detail is only on the collar as it is not to over the top Disney, but just enough to add a child like, whimsical touch. This shirt looks so cute layered underneath a pinafore dress I am going to keep it forever!!

Denim Jacket

I have a fair few obsessions but jackets and coats has to be my number one. I can’t resist buying them. My latest jacket to add to the collection is a dark wash denim jacket with contrasting white stitching from Topshop. The contrast stitch, oversized boxy and cropped style gives this jacket an edgy update to regular denim jackets. I like to wear this jacket real casual with just skinny black jeans and a slogan t-shirt.

Purple Haze

These trousers where just calling my name as I walked past and saw them in Zara. They were one of those easy purchases where it’s just straight to the tills. The fabric is velvet and feels good quality and the colour is a rich royal purple. They are perfect for the upcoming party season, I’m thinking they would look amazing with a black bodysuit and gold accessories or teamed with a boxy black jumper and ankle boots for a more casual look.

Pick of the SS18 Catwalk shows

Henry Holland

Sliders were massive on the runways for SS18 and were seen both here and Miu Miu styled with socks.

Aside from the sliders and socks – which I just can’t get over this collection featured bit of everything from suede and crochet to bold prints, double denim and pirate hats. My favourite outfit from this collection was the multi coloured  wave print jumper and skirt combo which was youthful, fun and gave  a 70s inspired feel.

Love, Love, Love this print

Ashley Williams

A very 80s New wave inspired collection with luxe sports wear elements which have been creeping in over the last few season and seem to be sticking around. The 80’s was carried through the collection within the silhouettes of dresses and power dressing suits in acid pink and zebra print to add the quirky edge Williams is loved for.

Love this leather co-ord

I always look forward to the Erdem show. I am in love with his signature aesthetic of classic, girly with beautiful floral prints. His SS18 collection didn’t disappoint with 50s inspired floral dresses accessorised with long silk evening gloves, pretty jewellery and dazzling pearl embellished shoes.  I can’t wait to rock some 50’s royal glamour next season.

Statement earrings here to stay for SS18

Marc Jacobs

Again this show featured sliders and socks, a definite trend coming through for SS18 although I’m not convinced how wearable this will actually be. This collection had a real relaxed, airport chic feel with oversized weekend bags, oversized silhouettes and silk turbans perfect for a long haul flights with that oh so important pair of sun glasses.

This collection had a retro feel with large, bold floral and psychedelic prints, bright colours and floor length sequin evening gowns accessorised like Erdem with long silk gloves this time in black.

September’s Best Buys

Earrings are  having a massive moment right now whether it’s mix and match studs or large staemtnet earrings. I have had my ears pierced for years but never really experimented with bold earring before and just stuck to studs, however I am really loving them at the moment. They bring a real  fun, playful touch to an outfit. I am all about this red pair from H&M right now. They work so well with muted tones like black, white and grey or clashed with hot pink for statement sass.

“I don’t need another bag” the exact phrase I uttered to myself before leaving Topshop 10 minutes later with another bag. In my own defence I do not own a back pack style bag and I recognised it from the latest episode of DR Foster (Kate wore it) where I was admiring it amidst all the drama. So  when it caught my eye there was only one way it was leaving and that was with me (see what I did there.) It is a lovely deep, rich burgundy colour and feels more expensive than it was, with plenty of room for all the crap I like to carry about.

Back Pack From Topshop

This blazer featured in my A/W trend post and I can’t get enough of it. I was looking back at it the other day when a sudden realisation hit me that I  must buy the matching trousers immediately. Suits are not my thing at all however I’ve seen a few celebs and  influencers rocking them at LFW so thought why not give it ago. I wore it for my friends  hen party and felt amazing in it. Not only was it comfy and practical it also looked bang on trend when teamed with a casual band tee, silver boots and red tassel earrings.

Blazer and Trousers @NewLook

Floral dresses are definitely not just for summer especially this one. I love the pretty florals contrast with the black background to give this dress an Autumnal feel. The ruffle detail around the neckline and sleeves are super flattering .This is a very girly dress so it is perfect to grunge up with a leather jacket. When I wore it I  also clashed it again some star print tights and my Topshop teddy fur bag.

A/W Ready

what to be buying and looking out for now, ready for A/W17.

As LFW is getting ready to showcase S/S18 the high st is moving forward also towards A/W.  It is that strange time of year where typically it is always hard to know what to be looking out for. Most people have had their summer holiday and are now looking forward to Autumn. So with this in mind I have pulled together some top trends for the coming months, from pieces available on the high st now.

This has been a firm fashion favourite on the catwalks and on the high st for the past couple of A/W seasons and is sticking around for this year. 2017 is all about the Teddy bear style of fur. It is a super soft and cosy fur with more room for a lighter  colour palette with brown, grey, cream, white and pastel tones. This trend has been shown particularly well at other the Anya Hindmarch and Miu Miu A/W17 shows.

The best way to inject this trend is with an accessory. I have seen loads of options on the high street from cute quirky fur bags to shoes! Teddy fur coats and jackets are also starting to creep in looking forward to the months ahead. A great way to wear this trend now is to throw a cosy teddy fur over a floral tea dress.

Checks have been all over the catwalks including Stella McCartney and Mulberry. Recently they have been spotted all over the high street. This trend has evolved moving on from the summers much loved gingham trend into heritage inspired checks.

This trend is all about statement pieces and co-orination with matching check blazers, trousers and skirts. This is the perfect look when teamed with a logo tee to relax the formal elements or finish an outfit with an oversized heritage check coat or chunky knit.

Red  Clash Flash

This colour has been huge this Summer and will be hanging around for Autumn, with an update from colour blocking to colour clashing with hot pink. This bold look shouldn’t work but striking pink and red combos on the catwalk at Mui Mu, Prada and Valentino give me all the feels for this trend.

This trend can be done as subtle or bold as you like by justing red accessories matched with a pink top or an all out layered clash.

miu miu pink and red

Bold clashing @Miu Miu

prada pink and red

Using red accessories @Prada

valentino pink and red

Red Knit @Zara Vinyl Skirt @NewLook

This trend is super fun to play with but disastrous if you get it wrong. The trick is you don’t want to clash more than three textures at once or the outfit will become confusing. A great example is to use vinyl or leather as a base and layer up with knitwear or fur another great texture clash for all out glamour is velvet and fur very A/W.
